Reder turned 6 on April 13. Since Mary and Randy were here visiting, we all went to Reder's school during snacktime to participate in his little birthday party. He got to wear the crown and hand out the treats:
The birthday kid has to stand in front while everyone sings Happy Birthday. He was bashful.
I asked Reder if he wanted a "friend party" or a "Gramma Papa party". He said a Gramma Papa party. Whoa that made my life easier! We had a Sonic-themed party since Sonic has been his obsessions lately. It's hard to read this sign but it says "Sonic Says Happy Birthday Reder". He was impressed.
My mom said she would be in charge of games for the party so I gladly let her. One was a dress-up race. This was a hoot. Here is Papa Rob putting on his outfit. If you do not know this game, girls are on one team and boys on the other. The first person in line grabs their bag of clothes, puts everything on, runs to the finish line and back, takes everything off, and then the next person goes. Of course to make it funny the guys have to wear girl's clothes and vice versa. Here is Papa Rob putting on his attire:
Gramma Janet is wear her enormous pants with suspenders (in the background is Fairy Ruby...she insisted on being a Fairy for the party):
Ruby is putting on her clothes....a smaller set of little boy clothes:
Jason's all ready to race! Honey, that bra is too big.
Steffany running as fast as she can in enormous pants and boots. One thing you cannot see is the gigantic pair of whitie-tighties she has on under the pants:
Some funnies regarding this race. Could we get the birthday boy to play? Heck no! Once he say he had to wear a little-bo-peep type dress and bonnet there was no way in heck he was going to play. What a poop! So, he sat on the deck and pouted. Also, Jason had just picked up dog poop so there really wasn't much to be found. Well Gramma Janet, who is notorious for finding dog poop and stepping in it and tramping it all over inconvenient places, happened to find some to step in. Goodness.
We also played Pin the Nose on Sonic. Here's Reder:
Wouldn't you know Reder won:
My parents made Reder a workbench. He loved it!
Grinding is fun!
Papa Randy and Gramma Mary got the kids scooters (Ruby got to open her birthday present from them too since they won't be here for her birthday). They think these are totally cool. For some reason I do not have a picture uploaded of this, darn.
We had Sonic cupcakes. Reder doesn't like cake so we also had root beer floats but I thought we at least needed something that would hold a candle!
Fairies love root beer floats!
That night we decided no more cooking so we let Reder pick where we went to eat. Where do you think this might be? "Old McDonald's", of course!
The next day Gramma Mary suggested we raise the training wheels on Reder's bike. Jason did that, and Reder took one spin on his bike and said he wanted them all the way off. Wouldn't you know he took off! Guess we should have done that earlier!
Thanks for a great birthday for Reder, everyone!
