A cold weekend

We woke up Saturday morning to snow.  Boo!  But, we didn't let this stop us too much from doing something over the long weekend.  We started by driving over the hill to my parents.  We picked them up and went to Chico Hot Springs for dinner.  This is a treat!  But sometimes you just have to live a little.  Here we are waiting for our food.  Notice the "ARGH!" face on Ruby (she's into pirate faces these days):

Dad and Jason ordered some clam chowder.  Surprisingly the kids thought it was great.  After Reder and Ruby ate it all Reder asked if we could order more.  Sorry Charlie, lots more food coming.

After we stuffed ourselves (let's see, we had ahi tuna and a brie en croute for appetizer, salads, soup, and main dishes....filet mignon for Dad, halibut for the rest of us, kids had kid food but I must say Ruby's mac-n-cheese was the best I've ever tasted), we decided we were too full for dessert.  But, when the waitress asked if she could show us the dessert cart, Reder wanted to see it.  He actively listened to what they had.  We talked him in to a flaming orange.  It's fun, and tasty!

After dinner we dropped my parents off at their house and we went on up to Luccock Park Camp.  We were meeting some church friends there.  We got in kind of late so we got on our jammies and got a fire lit.  It was so cold in the cabin you could see your breath.  Brrr!  Ruby in her jammies:

Ruby took a picture of Reder:

We all got under our covers waiting for the cabin to heat up.  That worked great.  The kids were too cold to get out so they couldn't be up-and-down...they just went right to sleep!  I admit I slept the best I've ever slept camping (though I wouldn't say this is true camping but still).  Jason got up a couple of times in the night to fuel the fire but everyone slept until almost 7!

Then we peeked out our windows and saw this:

Ruby playing with the camera again.  Funny.

Ruby wanted to take a picture of her "ARGH!" eye. (if you remember in Disney World she gave herself a black eye and we called her a pirate, so this is what she's thinking of I'm sure).

Enjoying our front porch even if it is freezing outside:

We went to the mess hall at breakfast time and had a great time eating and playing with friends.  They found some masks in the corner and the director said they could color them.  Pretty fun!

We were going to stay all of Sunday but it was just too wet and cold.  Instead we went down the hill and had lunch at Mom's, then headed home.  Kind of a blah night.

On Monday we decided that since it was only raining, not snowing, we really ought to go to the Memorial Day parade.  That was pretty fun, though chilly:

And last night about 6 pm the clouds broke and the sun came out.  Of course!
