On the second day of fun of our trip we went to Animal Kingdom. We started by riding Expedition Everest. Reder said he was not going to do it but he went with Karie and since he knew what to expect this time around, he thought it was pretty cool! After their ride Karie stayed with the kids and Jason and I went. Pretty fun!! That ride was a highlight.
On our way through the part we saw this walking vine. It was more impressive in person; this photo looks kind of lame.
The kids thought this vine lady was pretty interesting:
We enjoyed the snack option on the Dining Plan. Here we are having some fruit, juice, and a pretzel.
The kids enjoyed playing in the Bone Pile. It was a nice shady spot that had a spot to dig dinosaur bones (and no it's not sand, it's tiny rocks - Disney thinks of everything - this made no mess for Mom to deal with in clothes!).
Here if you jumped on the dino print it roared! Karie and I took turns watching the kids here while us three adults took turns riding Dinosaur, this awesome ride that we couldn't talk Reder into going on...though it was rather scary so in a way it's good.
Ruby climbing around:
For lunch we had BBQ. Well, Jason had BBQ. I had a turkey sandwich. This intense eating was catching up with me.
While Jason and I were on a scary ride what did Aunt Karie do? Bought the kids something only aunties and grandparents buy - these tubes you fill with different flavored sugar! They loved this.
For dinner we met Chris, Kelly, and Briar at Boma, an awesome African buffet restaurant in the Animal Kingdom Lodge (where we stayed last year....). Great food, as expected! We all loved the hummus varieties, the coconut rice, and the dessert.
The kids sure loved having fun with Briar!!
Do you notice the baby Dumbo (or Denvo) Ruby is holding? She bought it with her spending money she had for the trip. Reder got money for his birthday and he wanted to split it down the middle and give half of it to Ruby so she could have money for the trip too. What a nice brother! I cashed in the change in the jar on my desk and gave that to them for spending money too, so they each got to choose a couple of things. Worked great!
