January...

The holidays are over, and we have January.  Quiet and cold.  The lack of activity is a welcomed break after the Holidays.  We got the Christmas decorations cleaned up this weekend.  The Christmas lights are still up on the house, but I like them.  Reder was sure sad to see the tree go.  He threw a fit until we promised that we would get a BIGGER tree next year.  He also wants to get a baby tree for Ruby so he doesn't have to share with her.  Hmmm...

My project lately has been the Laundry room.  I was supposed to just add some upper cabinets, but it ended up being a full remodel of the laundry room after finding clearance cabinets at Lowes.  I still have some work to do, but it looks great.  We still have a zillion unfinished projects and things to get done, but it is nice to take on a big project once in a while.  And it should help us clean things up and get more organized.

Reder and Ruby are doing great.  Today they went to the church nursery while Mommy was at Bible study.  Reder thinks it is great to play with different toys, but Ruby was sad once she finished her bottle.  Unfortunately for Reder they are usually the only two in the nursery - no "boys and girls" to play with.  Friday they went for a tour of the Fire station.  Reder had to pee so bad that he fell to his knees, but didn't want mommy to know because she would take him to the potty and he didn't want to miss his chance to go into the fire truck.  (She took him to the bathroom and they made it back in time).  The best part was seeing the firemen slide down the "Biiiiiiiiiig Pole!"

Reder always keeps us entertained.  He is always surprising us with words he knows, or how he uses them.  Tonight we were flipping coins (Ruby's play coins from Gama Mary and papa Randy) and he said that they land with either "faces or butts" (rather than the usual heads or tails).  Reder is also always excited when I get home from work to tell me about his day.  Tonight he told me about being at the church nursery - the funny gray and blue dinosoar toy, seeing cars drive by outside the window, and the nice lady named Sarah who held Ruby because Ruby was sad.

A few pictures-  First is a picture of Ruby with Macy (Karie's dog).  Ruby was on the floor playing with her ball when Karie got here, and Macy thought that she spotted a good lap to warm up on.  Ruby thought it was great to have a dog on her lap!

And three of Ruby eating - She seems to like anything we give her.  She likes to hold her bottle for herself now, and also likes to feed herself crunchy baby-food puffs or crackers.
