So I was working long hours the last week or so on a rush project. We completed it on time, barely. So I took off early Friday afternoon to go on a hike with the family and the dogs. We invited Chip too, as he was the other half of the over-time team, and his dog Ruby. Two Ruby's - "the baby Ruby" and "the dog Ruby." They were the most confused - Ruby (the baby) kept giving Chip funny looks when he told Ruby (the dog) to "come!"
We went on one of our favorite trails - from Window Rock cabin down to the back side of Hyalite reservoir. This was possibly the earliest in the season that we had ever been on this trail, and it was very muddy. And the only flowers out yet were dandilions. But the dogs got in a good swim - chasing sticks thrown by Chip and Reder (most of the swimming was due to Chip's throws.)
Reder is a great hiker. I had the pack with me in case he got tired, but he kept going and going - the whole way to the lake and back - about a mile each way. He took some nasty spills, one time it nearly knocked the wind out of him, but he never even whimpered. He would just pause for a second and then be back up and running. Ruby is happy to ride on mommy's back, leaning to one side or the other to see what is ahead. She often points at things she finds interesting, or oinks at the dogs.
Today we went to Rob and Janet's for part of the day. We had an early father's day lunch and the kids got some good playing in. We also milled a bit more baseboard so Rob can finish the trim in their house.
