We had several wonderful upper-70's days, but Mid-day Thursday a snow storm rolled in. By Friday morning we had over a foot of snow. But then Friday had a warm, sunny afternoon, so most of it melted. First is a picture of a Junko sleeping on the birdbath - it is heated, but I just unplugged it thinking that we wouldn't need the heater anymore.

Next are two pictures of the backyard - one Friday morning - the peak of the snow, and another Saturday morning after most of it melted.
The snow continued to melt Saturday, and we went to visit Katie's parents. It was nice enough there to play outside for a while. Reder was excited to find a "ball-rock" - a nearly perfectly spherical rock, about tennis-ball sized. We also found bugs under rocks, and caught some in his bug-cage.
And here is a recent photo of Reder and Ruby at the "art table." Ruby likes to spend time watching whatever Reder is up to. Occasionally Reder will "bop" her nose with a marker lid or something to make her laugh.
Today winter returned, AGAIN. Katie is getting VERY antsy for spring. We got another foot or so of snow, so it looks about like it did Friday. To try to Cheer up Katie we got out this afternoon anyway. We headed to the fish hatchery. This is a place we have driven by so many times but never stopped. We had a great time. It was an interesting place - we learned that it was built in 1892, and is fed by a large spring. Originally it was built to produce fish to stock Montana rivers and lakes, but it is now a research facility. We saw lots of big fish, some ducks, and hiked on some great trails. There is a big trail system currently being constructed there. Anyway, here are some pictures:
This time the snow might not disappear as quickly either - the forecast calls for more all week. Tomorrow I have to report for Jury duty - could be interesting.
