Last night when Reder was going to bed he asked "What we gonna do after mimi's?" (Mimis are Spanish slang for sleep). We asked what he wanted to do. He says play outside (playhouse), go hiking, and go to museum. That is what he usually asks for lately. But today we managed to meet his goals.
This morning we drove up Hyalite canyon to the end of the road (plowed this year!) and even made it in the minivan. I did feel a bit out of place in the minivan when surrounded by SUVs and Subaru's, but it was fine. We hiked up the road for a while with the kids in the backpacks, but Reder said that he was getting cold, so we turned back before Grotto Falls. We let him walk back to the car, which he thought was great (and warmed him up)Ruby fell asleep in the backpack. There was ~6" of new snow but clear blue skies, a beautiful day.
Beautiful hike. See the ice-formation?
After his attempt at a nap (Reder says that "sleep is hard sometimes") we went to the Museum of the Rockies. This is a great museum, and Reder knows the dinosaurs better than we do. After the dinosaurs and some playing in the kids room, we headed back home to make pizza. While Katie made pizza, Reder went outside to play. It has been very warm for February, and Reder was enjoying it, at least after he came back in to get his sunglasses.
