Dinner and a Grizzly

The Grizzly was first:
Actually two Grizzly's:

We make a real effort to do something unusual every weekend. Today we were struggling to come up with something fun to do. Last minute this afternoon we headed to Montana Grizzly Encounter which we have driven past literally hundreds of times and always said "we should go there sometime..." It is located about halfway between Bozeman and Livingston - maybe 15 miles from our house. This is the home of Brutus, as big of a movie star a 900lb Grizzly could ever be (he's been on Oprah!). Brutus wasn't out today, but we still got to see some bears up very close.

After watching the bears play, wrestle, and eat apples, we headed the rest of the way "over the hill" to Livingston where we met Papa Rob and Gramma Janet for dinner at the Stockman. This is their favorite place to eat in Livingston (a local's favorite) and for good reason - good food, good service, good prices with a Montana dinner-bar atmosphere (complete with vinyl table cloth).

Everyone got the $7 cheeseburger (Reder and Ruby split one) but I splurged for the $19.95 complete prime rib dinner. What a huge cut of meat! Excellent, but still nothing near Brian Foreman's Prime Rib.
Crazy rain/snow storm on the way home, but a great "unusual" afternoon.
