Yellowstone

We are making the most of our summer. Yesterday we didn't have any plans, but then decided that we should go somewhere. By the time Ruby was up from her morning nap we had decided to head to Yellowstone.
President Obama and his family were in Bozeman Friday (Karie went to the "town meeting") but it was a secret what they were doing after that. We were worried that we might run into delays, but other than seeing lots of law enforcement vehicles, black helicopters, and barricades, our travels were unimpeded.
We ate lunch at a pizza place in West Yellowstone ("Gushers," dated, but clean and tasty). Then we went to the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. We saw wolves:

And Bears:
And a big fake bear:
We were hoping to see baby wolves, but they weren't out. Actually we should have probably skipped the Discovery center - Ruby and Reder just didn't seem interested this time.

So we continued on to Yellowstone and Old Faithful. It was a free national park weekend! We had ice cream in the Old Faithful lodge:
And then went out to watch Old Faithful erupt, along lots of other people:

It turns out that we arrived at Old Faithful at about the same time that the Obamas left. We didn't realize that at the time, but it explains why there were so many people leaving, when we got there - including even more law enforcement vehicles, black helicopters, etc.

We had an uneventful trip home. We did see a Grizzly along the Gallatin River, but he was pretty far away. And Kids were very tired by the time we got home.
