The other day while we were driving home from Mom's, Reder points out the window to the Yellowstone River and says "Next year I want to go fishing down there." I'm not sure what made him think of that, but Jason and I decided that fishing with Reder sounded like fun. So, the next weekend we went to Walmart and got a Cars pole for Reder (or "fishing wand", as Reder says) and a princess pole for Ruby. We knew Ruby would not be fishing but we also knew she would be throwing a fit wanting Reder's pole. Turns out we left her napping with Grandma while we did this, but anyway......
Here is a picture of Reder fishing. In the end, he had more fun throwing rocks in the river than fishing. Oh well. Next time I think we will go somewhere we might actually catch something...yes I know you can catch fish in the Yellowstone but not when you're 3 standing on the shore with a wimpy pole and no worms.
Reder and Papa Rob:Standing on rocks in the water is pretty fun too!:
Last weekend we decided to try a new hike up Hyalite. We parked the car at the top of the mountain and planned to hike down a popular trail to a canyon that is pretty close to our house (Leverich). Things didn't go as planned because it poured rain! So we went a bit, then decided the lightning was too close for comfort so turned around. Either way, we all had fun.
Here are my old girls. They were so good and didn't even bark at any of the mountain bikers we ran into.

Here we're having a little snack under a tree. At first we found the tree to shelter ourselves from the rain but then we decided it was a good spot to take a breather. Not like we really needed it yet, but every time we go on a hike Reder insists we have a little picnic - usually consists of some cheese or fruit or something along those lines but he and Ruby are happy.
