Every year we have a cookie party. It is so much fun to find new recipes and try them out on your friends. We all love to eat so it works out perfectly! It is also a competition, because it wouldn't be nearly as fun if we didn't have to work so hard to defeat each other!
Here is the spread. There were some delicious ones this year. Maybe I will announce the winners....
Best tasting went to Deb with her lemon macaroons
Most attractive went to me with my cherry linzer bars, but Bill was a close second with his sugar cookies so I let him have my prize
Most unique went to Leann with her root beer float cookies
Other entries included truffles, black sugar cookies, rhubarb drop cookies, Needhams (essentially mounds bars but with mashed potatoes mixed with the coconut!), and pferneusse.

Here we caught Jason Kay in the act of eating cookies before the rest of us could finish our lunch and get in there. He was saying "What's the big deal??"
Jason made cheddar pinwheels with hot pepper jelly. Yum, but in my opinion, a touch on the weird side. Just as weird as the cayenne peanut butter ones he chose for last year.
I made cherry linzer bars with homemade sour cherry jam...then for my second batch I ran out of jam and used some gooseberry jam which was delicious too.
Reder doesn't like cookies but he still thought the party was fun, especially when he got to vote and write down his votes just like the rest of us.
Ruby enjoyed the chocolate truffles (notice the chocolate around the mouth) and the sugar cookies (notice the frosting on her nose).

We also do a gift exchange. You have to bring a "real" gift along with a White Elephant. Here is Leann opening one of our gifts....a chair painted by kids at our church that says "When Pigs Fly".

Jason Kay with his White Elephant:
All in all we had a great party!
