Jason has been working on the outdoor fireplace in the picnic shelter. He has had trouble finding time to work on it, because we've been having too much fun doing other things.
It didn't take him too long to put up the firebrick. Reder loves to help:

In the background you can see the finished firebrick part. Now it's time to start putting actual rocks in place, and installing the damper. This giant rock Jason got out of the garden years ago, and it has been underneath the clothesline every since. I curse at it every time I go out there. But look, it will finally find its permanent home as a corner of the fireplace - Jason's finally moving it!!:
