The Annual Cookie Exchange

Today was our annual cookie exchange party.  Everyone brought a lunch dish to share, and a batch of cookies to sample and share.  Lunch was particularly delicious - I believe Jon and Leann made the best chicken noodle soup on record.  Our get-togethers always revolve around a competition, so prizes were awarded for the most unique, best tasting, and most attractive cookie.  The award of most attractive went to Alex, who consistently, year after year, surprises us with his creations.  This year was no different, with meringue cookies with a beautiful raspberry on top, drizzled in chocolate.  Best-tasting went to Leann for her maple oat cookies, and most unique went to Steffany for her chocolate chip-cream cheese pastry pinwheels.  Jason was a contender for best-tasting cookie with his chai spice girls, which ended up being a little inappropriate but he and I sure had fun making them!  Needless to say we were fat and happy after the party was over.  Thanks for coming, everyone!

We also had a white elephant exchange, and Reder thought this was awesome because everyone was nice and let him open the present for them.  What fun!  The most interesting present was from Karie - a bar of soap that said "butt" on one side and "face" on the other, along with a fancy soap dish and washcloth.  To my disbelief Sarah actually "stole" this gift from Leann because she wanted it for herself.  Hilarious!

Well, tomorrow's Monday....the weekend fun is over!  Best be getting to bed...
Oh, but on a fun note, Ruby slept last night from 6pm until 5am until she needed a snack.  If she had made it until 6am I would have said we were both up for the day, so she's almost there!  Hooray!  I must admit, though, that I don't mind getting up in the night with her for the most part - extra cuddles are nice.  She won't be a cute, squishy baby forever.
